Sandbox escape via reentrant IME view destruction
Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026
A use-after-free in Google Chrome's Windows UI before 148.0.7778.216 lets remote attackers escape the browser sandbox via crafted HTML. In RenderWidgetHostViewAura::OnBoundsChanged, a synchronous call to a third-party input method can destroy the view, after which the function accesses it again. Exploitation requires a previously compromised renderer and a Windows input-method callout that reenters the browser; the resulting escape crosses the renderer sandbox boundary.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
