Host CPU hang via interrupt-lock deadlock
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
Deadlock in Linux 7.1 SCSI target handling allows guest OS users to hang a host CPU through ORDERED command completion. target_do_delayed_work() holds delayed_cmd_lock with interrupts enabled, allowing an interrupt-context completion on the same CPU to spin forever while reacquiring that lock. Exposure requires vhost-scsi with non-default complete_type=1, an interrupt-completing backend, and guest ORDERED commands; Linux virtio_scsi guests send only SIMPLE commands and do not reach this path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
