CVE-2026-99193

Probe-time crash via premature PHY attachment

Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026

A NULL pointer dereference in Linux 7.2's icssm-prueth driver causes a probe-time crash during Ethernet PHY attachment. The icssm_prueth_netdev_init() function attaches the PHY before assigning netdev_ops, which netdev_need_ops_lock() dereferences through the PHY attachment path. The crash requires CONFIG_NET_SHAPER to be enabled and the affected driver to probe; public records do not establish an attacker-controlled trigger.
