Memory leakage via skipped GPIO bitmap cleanup
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
Memory leakage in Linux gpiolib allows attackers to consume kernel memory through failed GPIO array-output operations. In drivers/gpio/gpiolib.c, gpiod_set_array_value_complex() returns on a gpiochip_set_multiple() error before freeing dynamically allocated mask and bits bitmaps. Reaching the leak requires allocated bitmaps and a GPIO controller write error; public evidence does not establish attacker control or a crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
