Use-after-free via split-transaction timeout race
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux 6.19 FireWire handling allows attackers to trigger invalid memory access via racing split-transaction responses. In drivers/firewire/core-transaction.c, fw_core_handle_response() processes a transaction even when timer_delete() returns zero, allowing split_transaction_timeout_callback() to process the same entry concurrently. Reachability requires overlapping FireWire response and timeout handling; upstream does not establish attacker privileges or a crash or code-execution outcome.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
