Kernel-worker crashes via truncated scheduler lookup
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
NULL dereference in the Linux 6.18 rocket driver allows local users to crash kernel workers when an NPU core is unbound during job submission. sched_to_core() searches only num_cores slots after removal reduces that count, missing surviving cores whose NULL lookup results are dereferenced by rocket_job_run() and rocket_job_timedout(). Triggering requires multicore hardware, concurrent jobs, and removal of a nonfinal core; the record does not establish that unprivileged users can initiate unbinding.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
