Invalid kernel reads via premature superblock freeing
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
Use-after-free in ntfs3 in Linux 6.2 allows local users to trigger invalid kernel reads via concurrent lookup and teardown. ntfs_put_super() and ntfs3_kill_sb() release superblock state before RCU path lookups finish using it. The race requires a nocase mount and overlapping final mount-reference removal; ordinary umount currently masks it, and privilege escalation is not established.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
