Kernel crash via undersized DMA bounce buffers
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
Slab corruption in the Linux 7.0 i.MX SPI driver allows attackers to crash the kernel through affected DMA transfers. In drivers/spi/spi-imx.c, TX/RX allocations are rounded to four bytes, but DMA operations use cache-line-rounded lengths and extend beyond those allocations. Exposure requires the affected ECSPI DMA path on i.MX hardware; upstream observed a kernel oops under heavy RPMSG load but did not establish attacker access requirements or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
