Kernel crash via unchecked USB4 display sink
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
NULL dereference in Linux AMD display USB4 bandwidth handling allows attackers to crash the kernel via a missing sink. allocate_usb4_bandwidth_for_stream() and allocate_usb4_bandwidth() access stream->sink->link after assertions that production builds omit; link_set_dpms_off() also calls bandwidth deallocation without checking the sink. The fault requires the affected display path to encounter a NULL sink; attacker control and required privileges are not documented, and system-wide interruption depends on kernel fault handling.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
