CVE-2026-99145

Shrinker accounting corruption via pinned-buffer state changes

Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026

Accounting corruption in the Xe driver in Linux 7.1 allows local users to corrupt page counts via buffer-state changes. The xe_bo_set_purgeable_shrinker() function transfers pages between shrinker counters even when a pinned buffer's pages have already been excluded, causing underflow and persistent overcounting after unpinning. The trigger requires changing a pinned buffer's purgeable state, such as marking a mapped scanout buffer DONTNEED; the disclosure establishes accounting corruption, not a demonstrated crash or privilege escalation.
