Remote kernel hang via zero-length chunk parsing
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
An SCTP parser loop in Linux allows remote attackers to hang kernel receive processing via a zero-length ASCONF chunk. In net/sctp/inqueue.c, sctp_inq_pop() accepts lengths below the four-byte header minimum and repeatedly returns the same chunk when SCTP-AUTH handling bypasses the later length check. Triggering requires an established SCTP association, CONFIG_IP_SCTP, and net.sctp.addip_enable=1 and net.sctp.auth_enable=1, both disabled by default; no application credentials or shared AUTH key are required.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
