CVE-2026-99122

Connection reset via unchecked VMCI packet source

Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026

Source-validation failure in Linux VMCI sockets allows attackers to reset a connecting socket with a packet from an unrelated context. The destination-only fallback in vmci_transport_recv_stream_cb() selects a non-listening socket without checking its stored peer. Exploitation requires access to a VMCI context that can deliver packets to the target; the demonstrated impact is connection interruption, not a kernel crash.
