Information disclosure via uninitialized filesystem identifier
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
Information disclosure in Linux ksmbd allows remote authenticated users to read stale bytes via compound SMB requests. The smb2_get_info_filesystem() handler returns FS_POSIX_INFORMATION without assigning its eight-byte FileSysIdentifier field, exposing bytes left by an earlier response replaced with a shorter error. Exposure requires a running ksmbd server, an accessible share, a valid SMB session, and negotiated POSIX extensions; standalone requests return zeroed bytes rather than leaking data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
