Unspecified impact via incorrect MFT record resizing
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
Incorrect NTFS attribute resizing in Linux 7.1 allows attackers to cause unspecified impact via extent-record attribute operations. In fs/ntfs/ea.c, ntfs_new_attr_flags() passes the base MFT record instead of the extent record containing the attribute to ntfs_attr_record_resize(), producing incorrect memmove size calculations. The path requires an attribute in an extent record; published evidence does not establish attacker privileges or a specific crash, data-loss, or code-execution outcome.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
