Out-of-bounds reads via unchecked firmware record lengths
Published Oct 28, 2026 · Updated Oct 28, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in Linux p54 allow attackers to trigger reads past firmware records via malformed firmware images. The p54_parse_firmware function reads component ID and version fields without validating record lengths and accepts descriptor values that underflow the RX offset or leave an empty RX range. Triggering requires malformed firmware to reach the driver during firmware loading; the sources do not establish attacker-visible disclosure or a specific crash outcome.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
