Kernel crash via recovery-mode journal dereference
Published Oct 23, 2026 · Updated Oct 23, 2026
NULL dereference in Linux dm-integrity allows local users to crash the kernel by activating a device in recovery mode. dm_integrity_resume reads the bitmap journal when SB_FLAG_DIRTY_BITMAP is set, although recovery mode leaves the journal unallocated. Triggering requires local device activation with that on-disk flag set, such as after an unclean bitmap-mode shutdown; the reported consequence is a kernel panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
