CVE-2026-99069

Kernel crash via sysfs device-type confusion

Published Oct 23, 2026 · Updated Oct 23, 2026

Type confusion in Linux 6.11 ati_remote2 allows local users to crash the kernel by reading USB interface sysfs attributes. The channel_mask and mode_mask callbacks treat a usb_interface as a usb_device, causing usb_ifnum_to_if() to dereference an invalid pointer. Exposure requires a supported USB receiver bound to the driver; reading the world-readable attributes requires no administrative privilege.
