Memory leakage via unfreed DAO mapper allocations
Published Oct 23, 2026 · Updated Oct 23, 2026
Memory leakage in Linux 6.14 ALSA ctxfi allows attackers to consume kernel memory through repeated DAO input-mapper cleanup. In sound/pci/ctxfi/ctdaio.c, dao_clear_input() unlinks mapper entries and nulls their pointers without freeing the allocated array. Exposure requires execution of the affected audio-driver path; the published evidence establishes recurring allocation loss, not a demonstrated crash or a specific attacker privilege requirement.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
