Kernel crash via racing P2P interface removal
Published Oct 23, 2026 · Updated Oct 23, 2026
Linux brcmfmac has a teardown race that allows local users to crash the kernel by removing the driver during P2P deletion. In brcmf_detach(), missing synchronization with brcmf_p2p_del_vif() causes an already-freed wireless device to be unregistered again. Reproduction requires an active P2P device and driver removal overlapping wpa_supplicant exit; the documented trigger uses module-unload privileges.
