Kernel fault via unchecked chained-work pointer
Published Oct 23, 2026 · Updated Oct 23, 2026
NULL dereference in Linux workqueue handling allows attackers to cause a kernel fault via queueing during workqueue teardown. The is_chained_work() helper dereferences worker->current_pwq without checking whether the kworker is executing a work item, when that pointer is populated. The fault requires a kworker outside work-item execution to queue work on a draining or destroying workqueue; public evidence does not establish an attacker-controlled trigger or required privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
