Memory leakage via omitted receive-buffer cleanup
Published Oct 23, 2026 · Updated Oct 23, 2026
Memory leakage in Linux xen-netfront allows attackers controlling a network backend to consume guest memory via oversized response chains. When xennet_fill_frags() rejects excess slots, xennet_poll() skips cleanup of the dequeued skb and its attached pages. Exposure requires an active frontend receiving backend-controlled chains; repeated triggers retain memory, with no specific hang, crash, or reboot established.
