Kernel memory corruption via unreferenced TIPC nodes
Published Oct 23, 2026 · Updated Oct 23, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux TIPC allows local users to corrupt kernel memory by racing link requests against peer cleanup. tipc_node_find_by_name() drops RCU protection without retaining the node, so LINK_GET, LINK_SET, and LINK_RESET_STATS access storage freed by the node timer. Exploitation requires TIPC peer state and concurrent down-peer cleanup; LINK_GET requires no administrative permission, but privilege escalation is not established.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
