Unspecified impact via premature buffer-list unmapping
Published Oct 23, 2026 · Updated Oct 23, 2026
Incorrect cleanup in Linux ibmveth allows attackers to cause unspecified impact when opening a virtual Ethernet interface fails. On RX-pool allocation failure, ibmveth_open() unmaps the buffer-list page without deregistering the logical LAN, leaving PHYP ownership intact. The path requires the IBM virtual Ethernet driver and an allocation failure after LAN registration; attacker control and concrete security consequences are not documented.
