Kernel panic via TX_RING byte-count overflow
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Integer overflow in Linux Kernel TX_RING allows local users to trigger a kernel BUG via concurrent packet transmission and frame reuse. In net/packet/af_packet.c, tpacket_snd() accumulates transmitted lengths in signed int len_sum without bounding the total as userspace recycles completed frames, allowing an overflowed return value to trigger a BUG in sock_sendmsg_nosec(). Exploitation requires CAP_NET_RAW, and systems configured to panic on oops suffer a host kernel panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
