I/O hang via incorrect interrupt-state restoration
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Deadlock in Linux 7.2 blk-cgroup allows attackers to hang block I/O via a lookup that incorrectly re-enables interrupts. On a blkg lookup miss, blkg_tryget_closest() releases queue_lock with spin_unlock_irq(), enabling interrupts even when its caller had disabled them. With dm-thin's pool lock still held, an I/O completion softirq can reacquire that lock and deadlock; required attacker privileges and a deliberate triggering procedure are not documented.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
