Kernel-memory corruption via unchecked firmware MIB reply length
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Buffer overflow in the Linux wfx driver allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory via an oversized firmware MIB response. The wfx_hif_read_mib() function copies reply->length bytes without checking val_len, overrunning the caller buffer and reading beyond the reply allocation. Exposure requires processing a malformed firmware reply; public evidence does not establish attacker prerequisites, remote reachability, or code execution.
