Kernel memory corruption via unbounded TX aggregation
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
An overflow in Linux ath9k_htc allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory via oversized batches of outgoing Wi-Fi frames. The __hif_usb_tx() loop limits frame count but not cumulative bytes, so memcpy() overruns the allocated transmit buffer. Reachability requires the affected USB wireless driver and sufficiently large queued frames; attacker privileges and consequences beyond the out-of-bounds write are not established.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
