State corruption via unchecked transmit-status rate indices
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds indexing in Linux mac80211 allows attackers to corrupt state via malformed driver-reported TX rate metadata. The minstrel_ht_tx_status() function derives table indices without checking whether the MCS, spatial-stream count, and bandwidth fit its rate tables. Triggering requires invalid transmit-status metadata from a Wi-Fi driver; public evidence does not establish attacker control or code execution.
