Memory corruption via borrowed beacon-IE double free
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
A double free in Linux cfg80211 allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory via scan-entry merging after a channel switch. cfg80211_update_known_bss() copies borrowed beacon information elements from a hidden-group entry into an associated entry, creating two owners that subsequently free the same allocation. Reachability requires this hidden-group merge and entry-release sequence; attacker control, required privileges, and a resulting crash or code execution are not established in the published record.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
