VLAN isolation bypass via BSS-wide station lookup
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
VLAN isolation failure in Linux mac80211 allows attackers to send unicast traffic across VLANs through an affected access point. In net/mac80211/tx.c, ieee80211_lookup_ra_sta() uses sta_info_get_bss() for ordinary AP and AP VLAN frames, selecting destination stations outside the transmitting interface. Exposure requires AP VLAN interfaces sharing a BSS and traffic addressed to a station on another VLAN; the documented consequence is unintended cross-VLAN delivery, not code execution or a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
