Out-of-bounds read via fragmented packet length checks
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in Linux mac80211 allow local users to trigger kernel memory-access faults via crafted AF_PACKET transmissions. ieee80211_monitor_select_queue() and related radiotap and transmit checks validate skb->data accesses against total packet length, including fragments, rather than the linear head buffer. The path requires a monitor-mode interface and packet-socket access requiring CAP_NET_RAW; published evidence establishes invalid kernel reads, not attacker-visible memory disclosure or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
