Kernel memory corruption via misindexed statistics writes
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Buffer overflow in Linux's SYSTEMPORT Lite driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through ethtool statistics requests. The bcm_sysport_get_stats() callback skips unsupported counters but writes using the original index rather than the compacted index, overrunning the buffer sized by bcm_sysport_get_sset_count(). Exposure requires SYSTEMPORT Lite hardware and the affected driver; the disclosure establishes memory corruption, not demonstrated code execution or privilege escalation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
