Packet-capture corruption via writes to shared SRv6 buffers
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Shared-buffer writes in Linux SRv6 allow remote attackers to alter packet captures via incoming IPv6 routing packets. In net/ipv6/seg6_local.c, advance_nextseg() and seg6_next_csid_advance_arg() modify routing fields without first ensuring that cloned packet data is writable. The documented consequence is altered capture data when SRv6 segment advancement processes a packet shared with an AF_PACKET socket.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
