CVE-2026-98785

Kernel crash via unchecked display-state allocation

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

NULL dereference in Linux AMD display code allows attackers to crash the kernel during GPU reset recovery after allocation failure. dm_suspend() returns success with a NULL cached_dc_state, which dm_resume() dereferences in link_enc_cfg_copy() and the stream-count loop. The failure requires the AMD display path and an unsuccessful state-copy allocation; public evidence does not establish an attacker-controlled trigger.
