CVE-2026-98773Hinoki check available

Freed-memory access via USB disconnect race

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux's cdc-acm USB driver allows physically proximate attackers to trigger freed-memory access during disconnect. The acm_port_shutdown() function restarts USB requests while acm_disconnect() frees their buffers, leaving completion callbacks accessing freed DMA memory. The race requires the ALWAYS_POLL_CTRL quirk and overlapping shutdown and disconnect processing; broader attacker-controlled consequences are not established.
