CVE-2026-98771Hinoki check available

Heap disclosure via short USB responses

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

Heap disclosure in Linux's sierra_ms USB driver allows local users to read stale kernel memory through a malicious USB device. sierra_get_swoc_info() accepts a short response to a 60-byte request, and truinst_show() prints uninitialized buffer fields through the world-readable truinst sysfs attribute. Exposure requires a malicious or emulated USB device handled by the driver; without init_on_alloc, each read discloses up to five bytes of recently freed heap contents.
