CVE-2026-98759

Stack-data disclosure via uninitialized USB-C partner descriptor

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

Uninitialized data in Linux 6.18 USB Type-C handling allows local users to read kernel stack data through partner sysfs. The cd321x_update_work() function incompletely initializes typec_partner_desc, leaving callback pointers and the pd_revision and usb_capability fields unset before partner registration. Exposure requires the affected CD321x driver path; linking a USB device also reaches invalid callback pointers, but attacker-controlled execution is not established.
