CVE-2026-98756Hinoki check available

Kernel crash via PCI probe initialization race

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

A probe race in the Linux cdns3 PCI driver allows attackers to crash the kernel via overlapping controller initialization. In cdns3_pci_probe, pci_is_enabled() is treated as proof that driver data exists, so wrap->devfn dereferences a NULL pci_get_drvdata() result. The failure requires a two-function Cadence USBSS controller and probing before the first function stores its data; attacker control over this timing is not documented.
