Freed-memory access via surviving serial polling timer
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux's MAX3100 serial driver allows attackers to cause unspecified impact via device removal during suspend. max3100_remove() frees the port without terminating its polling timer, leaving max3100_timeout() able to access the released object and re-arm itself. The sequence requires a MAX3100 SPI device to be unbound before resume; attacker privileges and a demonstrated crash or privilege-escalation outcome are not established.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
