CVE-2026-98745

Kernel panic via invalid signal-context restoration

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

Signal-context validation in the Linux kernel allows local users to trigger a kernel panic via a crafted arm64 SVE signal frame. The restore_sve_fpsimd_context() function accepts an SVE payload with SVE_SIG_FLAG_SM clear, creating unsupported non-streaming state. Exposure requires SME support without SVE support; subsequent kernel register restoration triggers an undefined-instruction exception.
