Kernel memory corruption via RFCOMM reference race
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux Bluetooth RFCOMM allows local users to corrupt kernel memory by racing TTY installation and device release. The rfcomm_tty_install() and __rfcomm_release_dev() paths separately check or set RFCOMM_TTY_OWNED, allowing both to drop the initial port reference before a final tty_port_put() accesses freed memory. Triggering requires access to an RFCOMM_RELEASE_ONHUP device; the report establishes a freed-memory write, not privilege escalation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
