Invalid memory access via premature channel-context freeing
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux mac80211 allows attackers to cause invalid kernel memory access during Wi-Fi channel-context replacement. The release and reassignment paths free an old channel context while its replacement retains a replace_ctx pointer, which later unreserve or switch-finalization paths follow. Triggering requires paired channel contexts; attacker privileges, an external entry point, and consequences beyond stale-pointer access are not disclosed.
