Freed-memory access via RX session timer race
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux mac80211 allows attackers to access freed kernel memory through an RX block acknowledgment teardown race. In net/mac80211/agg-rx.c, teardown deletes the session timer without preventing ieee80211_rx_h_ctrl() from rearming it before tid_rx is freed. Triggering requires overlapping RX BAR processing and session teardown; the published description establishes stale timer memory access, not a demonstrated crash or privilege escalation.
