Mesh routing denial via leaked quota reservations
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Quota exhaustion in Linux mac80211 allows attackers to block new mesh routes via repeated failed or duplicate path additions. The mesh_path_add() function retains its quota reservation when allocation or hash-table insertion fails or finds an existing destination. Exposure requires mesh operation and repeated unsuccessful additions; exhaustion prevents new routes rather than establishing a kernel crash, and attacker privileges and physical-radio exploitability remain undocumented.
