Kernel panic via mesh path deletion race
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux 6.4 mac80211 allows local users to trigger a kernel panic by racing mesh path deletion with transmission. mesh_fast_tx_cache() inserts a path pointer after deletion flushes the cache, leaving mesh_fast_tx_get() to access freed memory. Published validation uses mesh interfaces and root-started tests with panic_on_warn enabled; non-root reachability and remote triggering are not established.
