CVE-2026-98692Hinoki check available

Resource leakage via missing tunnel activation callback

Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026

Reference leakage in Thunderbolt in Linux 6.14 allows attackers to retain kernel tunnel resources during hibernation restore. The tb_dp_dprx_start() function takes a tunnel reference without queuing dprx_work when no activation callback exists, leaving that reference unreleased. The path requires discovered DisplayPort tunnels and hibernation restore; capability reads also block restore for up to 12 seconds, but attacker control is undocumented.
