Invalid adapter access via tunnel cancellation race
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
A race in Linux Thunderbolt DisplayPort handling allows attackers to trigger invalid adapter access via canceled capability reads. tb_dp_dprx_work() checks dprx_canceled before acquiring tb->lock, allowing capability polling and a callback after tunnel teardown. The race requires an in-flight read canceled during suspend or domain removal; attacker privileges and the resulting failure mode are not documented.
