Heap over-read via unchecked XDomain response length
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Linux Thunderbolt XDomain discovery allows physically proximate attackers to trigger a 12-byte kernel heap over-read via peer responses. The tb_xdp_properties_request() function trusts a response-header length that makes memcpy() read 192 bytes from a 180-byte data array when the destination permits it. Exposure requires a malicious cable-connected peer; external disclosure and code execution were not demonstrated, and physical peer injection was not tested.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
