Heap disclosure via uninitialized buffer padding
Published Oct 18, 2026 · Updated Oct 18, 2026
Heap disclosure in Linux IIO buffers allows local users to read uninitialized kernel memory through buffered sensor reads. The iio_push_to_buffers_with_ts_unaligned() helper allocates its bounce buffer without clearing padding between sample data and the timestamp. Exposure requires access to an affected IIO buffer with timestamps enabled and sample data whose length is not a multiple of eight bytes; the disclosed impact is memory disclosure, not memory modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
