CVE-2026-9864Network attack vector

AD machine-account compromise via predictable password generation

Published Oct 1, 2026 · Updated Oct 1, 2026

Predictable machine-account passwords in Fortra Core Privileged Access Manager (BoKS) allow remote attackers to guess AD credentials. In BoKS Server Agent 8.1.0.0 through 8.1.0.29 and 9.0.0.0 through 9.0.0.5, the adjoin utility generates weakly random passwords during Active Directory join or renewal. An attacker must estimate when a password was generated and reach an authentication path accepting that machine account; successful prediction grants access associated with that account.
